A Little Bit About a Lot of Things

A lifestyle blog with a focus on my food adventures

IMG_0488I haven’t watched Shark Tank, but mother daughter pair Tracey Noonan and Danielle Desroches appeared on the show in 2013. They partnered with Kevin O’leary of O’leary Ventures and opened up two retail locations, one right in Faneuil Hall. I just happened upon them while walking the mall, and I’m glad I did.

IMG_0487The idea came from Tracey and Danielle getting requests for cupcakes to be shipped across the country and not having a way to ship them and keep fresh. They are created from scratch and they are hand packed daily. Cupcakes will keep fresh for up to 10 days without being refrigerated.

IMG_0489The space is tiny, but they don’t really need all that much room. They sell the cupcakes in jars as well as other cupcake themed gift items.

IMG_0495We tried Natalie’s 24 Karate Kake: Classic carrot cake baked with shredded carrots, walnuts and chocolate chips layered with our homemade cream cheese, buttercream frosting and topped with a walnut. The cake was super moist and the frosting was tasty, I love a good cream cheese frosting. I will say that it was a little bit on the sweet side, so we ate this in two sittings.

IMG_0494The Wicked Good: Peanut butter and chocolate chips baked to almost “Cookie-like” perfection layered with peanut butter frosting and chocolate ganache. Cake has an almost cunchy cookie crumb. This was even sweeter than the Karat Kake – but there is certainly something really tasty about it that kept us interested until the last crumb. Good to note that the wicked good is more like a cookie than a cupcake.

IMG_0497Really cute packaging.

IMG_0548The top of the wicked good. I loved the peanut butter frosting more than the chocolate ganache, but the flavors really complimented each other.

IMG_0549The top of the Karat Kake. The jars run about $8 a jar, more than your average cupcake, but these certainly make a statement, and are a great choice for a special treat or a hostess gift.

The Wicked Good Cupcakes kiosk is located at the west end of the south canopy in the Quincy Market building, right next to Cheers.
