A Little Bit About a Lot of Things

A lifestyle blog with a focus on my food adventures

I am so far behind with blogging-I apologize. We went to Korean Garden in JULY!!! And I’m just getting to it now?? Yikes! I have to be honest, with new Asian places, I’m not too adventurous-I like to know what I’m getting myself into before I go. I had read somewhere in an article, or saw it on tv, that this place was great. I had driven by it about 100 times, and it never would have occurred to me to just drop in.  I went with a friend on a weekday for lunch-the place was about half full with mostly Asians. The decor is a little lacking-there isn’t much in the way of decorations besides posters of food up on the wall and bottles of beverage choices up on a shelf. That doesn’t bother us because we’re here for the food! We both order the bento box lunch special.

We are presented with about 7 little dished which include kimchi, a spicy cabbage and picked turnips which I thought I wouldn’t like…but they are delicious…sweet and tangy and crisp!

We order the mandoo ($6.95) to start, pan fried meat dumplings-mmm….my favorite. These are excellent, not too greasy, crisp wrapper, and the meat inside is flavorful.

We both ordered the bulgogi-marinated beef rib eye ($12.99)….it came with fried rice, salad, miso soup, two mandoo and a little dish with glass noodles.

And under the mandoo…sushi. We were trying to figure out what the mystery meat was inside….oh yes my friends….it was HOT DOG SUSHI!!! I do love the bento box special because it gives you a little taste of everything…but hot dog sushi just didn’t do it for me. Which actually pleased my friend because he scooped up both of my pieces and asked me why more places don’t do hot dog sushi….

As I mentioned before, the decor leaves something to be desired, and the service is spotty, but the food was excellent-there are a lot of Asian restaurants out there, but few that do bulgogi right. Go back again? You bet! Just no more hot dog sushi….
