A Little Bit About a Lot of Things

A lifestyle blog with a focus on my food adventures

It is going to be my summer time project this year to try as many clam shacks as possible. We started off the season in April at the Clam Box, before it got super busy. Located in Ipswich, MA this place is what seems like miles from the main highway. Parking was tough outside, and that’s with it not even being crowded. I can only imagine what it is like when the season is in full swing!

There is a small area to order and then pick up your take out. The line moved fairly quickly. There were all kinds of options, plates that come with two sides, mini meals that come with one side and then boxes with no sides. The plates run about $13-$25 depending on what you choose-clams, clam strips, scallops, oysters and haddock are just some of the options available. Don’t feel like seafood? The offer burgers, hot dogs and chicken fingers as well.

They have inside seating in the back, as well as a patio in the parking lot if you want to eat outside.

We ordered two mini meals-scallops with french fries and clams with onion rings. There was a lot of food and we couldn’t finish it all-but there were certainly people here who were ready to do some serious eating. The batter was light and not very greasy, they had just changed the oil earlier that day. The fries were crisp and the onion rings were pretty darn good. The clams were whole-no clam strips for this New England gal! They had a nice flavor to them, not too gritty. It was a little cold outside, so we ate in…seems like such a shame though. The decor inside was minimal-nothing to write home about-but then again, aren’t you just there for the food? All in all, not a bad way to kick off the season. I got a few other suggestions of where to try next, so stay tuned!
