A Little Bit About a Lot of Things

A lifestyle blog with a focus on my food adventures

Scollay Square is located in Beacon Hill-near the State House, at 21 Beacon Street. The Legendary Restaurant Group also owns Max and Dylans and Papagayo, as well as Tavern on the Waterfront. It’s a small neighborhood kind of place-great for a casual bite with friends or a drink after work.

The appetizers all looked great-it would be a great idea to get a couple of them and share. Things like shrimp dumplings, Philly cheese steak spring rolls, and buffalo chicken dip are just a few things to get your mouth watering. (The buffalo chicken dip is excellent, I had it at Max and Dylans!) My friend and I decided to go with entrees. I had the Kobe meatloaf ($18) with mashed potatoes, shallot glazed green beans, and shiitake gravy. The waitress warned me that it was  a large dish, and I could barely finish half of it. I brought the other half home-looking forward to a meatloaf sandwich the next day. The meatloaf had a really nice flavor to it, mellow and smooth. The mashed potatoes were excellent-moist and creamy. I loved the flavor of the shiitake gravy-it really made the dish.

(Here’s a brighter picture of the leftovers when I got home.)

We shared the chocolate chip cookie sliders for dessert-vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two warm chocolate chip cookies with chocolate sauce on the side for drizzling. Such a simple dessert-and it hit the spot. I had a $40 coupon, that cost me $20, so dinner was $5 plus tip (See an interesting article about Groupons here). In addition, if you sign up for their rewards program, you get 25% off your next meal and you earn points for every dollar spent. So stop on by if you are looking for a casual-comfort food kind of meal.
