A Little Bit About a Lot of Things

A lifestyle blog with a focus on my food adventures

I have been anxiously awaiting Roxy’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese to open. I avoided their opening night, and thank goodness I did. From pictures on twitter, the line was around the block! We decided to go last week during lunch time. They park in Cleveland Circle near the old, closed movie theater. There is ample parking in the lot by the baseball field, along with street parking near by.

The guys on the truck were super friendly. One guy stood outside and took orders-we felt pretty bad for all of them because it was SO windy and cold the day we went out there.

Each grilled cheese comes with a double shot of tomato soup. I’m not really a tomato soup kind of gal, but this was pretty good-very thick and it had some nice green onions on top. We also ordered the beer battered onion rings ($3) with ketchup already on them. Pretty tasty-with a hint of a smokey flavor-was that on purpose or coincidence?

So I get the mac and cheese grilled cheese ($7). I was browsing their blog and found out that they don’t use butter to make the grilled cheese, they use….MAYO!! I am so not a mayo fan, frankly it kind of creeps me out…so I was apprehensive…but you really can’t tell that they use mayo instead of butter. So they mac and cheese grilled cheese was nicely cooked, a decent amount of mac inside-that was cheesy but flavorful, and they put in some bacon and onions to add even more flavor. YUM!

We also tried out the Green Muenster ($7) which was cheese, bacon, and guacamole. This sandwich had a nice salty taste to it and the guacamole was so smooth. Really nice choice.

Would I go back? You betcha! And they are open late night too! So stop by and try a gourmet grilled cheese for yourself.

So check them out on facebook: www.facebook.com/roxysgrilledcheese

or on twitter: http://www.twitter.com/roxysgrilledchz to see when they will be open.
