A Little Bit About a Lot of Things

A lifestyle blog with a focus on my food adventures

I was throwing a little dinner party and didn’t have time to make my own dessert, so I rolled over to Roche Brothers to see what I could find. I picked up 4 desserts from the bakery counter. Above is the tiramisu. Good flavor to it, but the cake was sponge like (super soggy).

The chocolate mousse was the best of the lot, light and fluffy while still being smooth and creamy.

I get why carrot cakes have little frosting carrots on them, but I never really like the way they taste (the frosting carrots not the actual cake). This cake was just ok, there wasn’t a lot of flavor to it and the frosting was REALLY waxy and heavy. Probably our least favorite of the bunch.

I can’t remember what they called this at the store, but I aptly named it the chocolate bomb. It’s about the size of a baseball with a hard chocolate shell.

Here’s the cross section-chocolate cake and a fudge chocolate filling. Total chocolate overdose! All in all they were just average, and they were pretty expensive per piece, would I go back again for them? Probably not…but beggars can’t be choosers when you are in a pinch.
