A Little Bit About a Lot of Things

A lifestyle blog with a focus on my food adventures

We ventured out here in the beginning of October for a second try. It was great the first time, but will it be consistently good the second time around?

We order some of the same things, and some new things. We order the pistachio and burrata again ($5). Still amazing. The burrata is creamy and smooth and the candied pistachios (of which I request extra) are as addictive as ever. We order the salumi plate for 2 ($21) that doesn’t disappoint. There is a fine selection of meats along with some wonderful figs. The arancini ($5) are also quite good-I have to admit, I just adore arancini.

For entrees, I order the bolognese (no surprise there). Perfectly al dente pasta with a great sauce($21), the bowl looks like there won’t be enough pasta, but it fills you up and is just the right amount. Other dishes ordered include the gnocchi ($21), the spaghetti ($19) with genuine pecorino romano and fresh cracked pepper-with a side of meatballs of course ($5),  and the gran misto griglia ($29) which is a grilled lamb chop, sausage, beef tenderloin with a cool yogurt dipping sauce. The spaghetti was good, while simple in preparation, it tasted delicious. The gnocchi was wonderfully prepared-they were light as air and melted in your mouth (if they melt in your mouth the calories don’t count right?). The  lamb was excellent, delightfully tender and the sausage has a great flavor to it.

The service was good-the waitress was attentive and friendly. We had a large party this time, as compared to a party of two last time, and the service was comparable.  Il Casale stands up to the test-they are consistently good and I look forward to my next meal there.
