A Little Bit About a Lot of Things

A lifestyle blog with a focus on my food adventures

Georgetown Cupcakes has come to Boston! Located at 83 Newbury St, this store has been packed since its opening! The two sisters, Katherine and Sophie have opened up yet another successful shop.

After patiently waiting in line, which was out the door, I finally got to check the place out! A really bright, clean space. The people were friendly and the cupcakes were looking good! Cupcakes will run you $2.75 each, $15 for 1/2 dozen and $29 for a dozen. Order at the register and then wait in line to pick up your order that they take off of baking racks. They take great care in packing up your cupcakes so they are still as good as they looked in the store when you get home.

Strawberry- Classic Madagascar bourbon vanilla cupcake baked with fresh strawberries and topped with a fresh strawberry frosting and a fondant heart. It smelled a little too sweet for my liking which was confirmed when I tasted it…it just reminded me of cotton candy…

Marble brownie fudge-Just the right amount of chocolate 🙂

Toffee crunch- Toffee cupcake with a toffee-infused vanilla frosting topped with crushed heath bar. I missed the toffee flavor here, couldn’t really taste it in the cake or the frosting…but really cute decorations.

Red velvet, a Georgetown Cupcake’s signature cupcake — classic red velvet cupcake with a vanilla cream cheese frosting topped with a red fondant heart. Love, love, love the cream cheese frosting. The cake was light and airy-really tasty…you can see why it’s their signature cake.

Chocolate coconut- Valrhona chocolate cupcake with a vanilla  cream cheese frosting capped with a cloud of shredded coconut. Coconut in general isn’t really my thing, but the chocolate cupcake was delicious….the frosting was tasty, not overly sweet as coconut frosting can sometimes be.

Vanilla 2-Classic Madagascar bourbon vanilla cupcake with a vanilla cream cheese frosting topped with a fondant flower. The top of this one was raw, both times we went there….I’m a sucker for this classic, this one didn’t disappoint.

Lemon Berry-Light lemon and raspberry cupcake with a raspberry frosting topped with a candied lemon. The bright color of this frosting turned me off a little with this cupcake…just looking at it, it seemed fake…it was just really too sweet for my liking.

Carrot Classic-cinnamon apple carrot cake with a vanilla cream cheese frosting and topped with a fondant carrot or bunny (does not contain raisins or nuts). Again, love the cream cheese frosting and how cute is the fondant carrot? This was high on my list.

Hazelnut -Valrhona chocolate cupcake with a rich Callebaut chocolate ganache icing topped with caramelized hazelnuts-This was one of my top two favorites. I love this…the cake was light and chocolatey…the crunchy nuts added something really nice….really great flavor profile.

White Chocolate Raspberry-Classic Madagascar bourbon vanilla cupcake baked with fresh raspberries topped with a white chocolate buttercream frosting and a fondant flower. This was also one of my top two favorites, a really nice refreshing taste for summer, really light and tasty.
There is a small table in front if you want to eat your cupcake on the spot….most people take them to go. Georgetown Cupcakes also serves illy coffee beverages. Stop in today, but don’t go when you’re in a hurry, there’s likely to be a line.
